In February ABC’s launched there attempt at short mid season shows with “The River” & “Missing”. Both I and Scott rather instantly became fans as the shows twists/turns/mystery’s continued to unfold.

The show was never groundbreaking, I was not supposed to be, it just set out to be a scary enjoyable supernatural type show. I would compare the documentary style fliming to that of the movie “The Blair Witch Project”

Being honest toward the end I felt them bring in zombies (Briefly) to be bit overdone (Considering AMC The Walking Dead) neverless I was still intrigued by the show and the ending left the show open to many possible storylines if the show were to continue.

The River has suffered in ratings along with ABC’s Missing and the outlook for both shows is bleak. The producers have already be in reported talks with netflix IF ABC cancels it. (Which is looking likely)

No matter the outcome I highly recommend you check out ABC’s The River. All the episodes are available on Hulu- http://www.hulu.com/the-river

About the show:

Famed explorer Dr. Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) went looking for “magic” deep in the uncharted Amazon basin and never returned. The shocking truth about his disappearance is out there, somewhere, just waiting to be discovered. To the millions of kids who grew up watching his nature show, Dr. Cole was a hero. To his own son, Lincoln (Joe Anderson), he was more of an enigma. Now, six months after he vanished, Lincoln is finally ready to bury the past when Dr. Cole’s emergency beacon suddenly goes off. At the urging of his mother, Tess (Leslie Hope), Lincoln reluctantly joins her on a search for his father. To fund the rescue, they agree to let Dr. Cole’s cagey ex-producer, Clark (Paul Blackthorne), film the mission documentary-style.
